Opened in 1999, ShanghaiMart is the first permanent international trade mart in China and the largest in Asia, comprised of three complimentary venues encompassing 280,000 m2 as the Mart, Expo and Office Tower.
The Mart is about 200,000 m2 for companies wishing to establish year round product showcases, the Expo of 37,000 m2 for incoming exhibitions, self-owned fairs and the Tower of 42,000 m2 providing a multi-storey commercial office space for international companies and consulates. The General Consulate to Shanghai of Chilean, Belarus, Indonesia and the Visa Center of Japan are all located in ShanghaiMart’s office tower. The entire complex is a premier international trading center featured by a unique combination of showrooms, offices and trade fairs that provides international and domestic buyers and venders with world-class facilities and services.
Global Procurement Center
Approximately 2,200 permanent showrooms with a total of more than 200,000 m2 of exhibition area create an exciting format of product showcase options within the center. It is an ideal venue to promote products and interact with buyers visiting the mart on a daily basis. Thousands of qualified suppliers from three key industries-Apparel, Fabric & Home Textiles; Giftware & Home Décor; and Fashion accessories are represented within ShanghaiMart’s permanents showroom floors.
With a central objective of building the biggest Global Procurement Center in China, the major business of ShanghaiMart is to create and promote international and domestic commercial trade, being a platform for professional product sourcing to create international trade opportunities.
There are 49 buying offices in ShanghaiMart with $ 22 billion direct sourcing from China in 2007 including Wal-Mart, Carrefour & C & A, more than 200 oversea invested sourcing companies have the cooperation relationship with ShanghaiMart, such as H & M, JC Penny, Sears and Li & Fung.
Currently there are over 1000 tenants in ShanghaiMart, in which 58% are foreign tenants including Interl, Stanley, Kone, Mondial, Nippon Express, MHI and so on.
In 2010, ShanghaiMart was granted as ‘Shanghai International Trade & Permanent Exhibition Center’ by Shanghai Commercial Commission.
Exhibition Center & Self-owned fair
ShanghaiMart is one of the five biggest Exhibition Center in Shanghai boasting conference and exhibition area of 30,000 square meters. Business ranging from 20 person trade seminar to 20,000 visitor large scale trade fair, the venue caters for three key industries - apparel & textiles, gifts & home décor and fashion accessories. It also provides the opportunity for buyers to source products and exchange trading information in these industries.
Hundreds of international and domestic short-term exhibitions and large-scale conferences are held here annually providing additional sales opportunities for permanent showroom tenants. Many big exhibitions is be incubated from ShanghaiMart, such as East China Fair, Furniture Fair, Auto Show, Jewellery Collection Show.
ShanghaiMart also host 7 self-owned fairs relating to fashion and lifestyle to introduce more international brands. On the list are Shanghai International Gift and Home Décor Trade Fair in Spring and Autumn, Shanghai International Clothing and Textile, Global Products Show Shanghai, China International Wine Exposition, Top wine China, Novo Mania Shanghai International Brand Clothing Fair and 2012 RA (China) Auto Show. Total buyers reach 200,000 with 2,800 vendors.
